Volunteering not only helps the chapter, but (more importantly) it also provides opportunities for you to network and learn new skills. Contact the Chapter President or the team lead for more information about volunteer opportunities.

STC-SWO Team Descriptions

Program Team
The Program Lead works with a committee to complete the following:

  • Plan monthly meetings (September through May).
  • Identify, contact, and secure appropriate speakers/events for each meeting.
  • Arrange meeting site locations and logistics.
  • Publicize the annual programs for the current year via a postcard mailing and web site calendar.
  • Inform members and non-members of upcoming meeting including reservation deadlines.
  • Attend monthly program meetings to introduce speakers and ensure meetings run smoothly.
  • Contact the Program Team lead.

Membership Team
The Membership Lead completes the following:

  • Receive notice of new members.
  • Maintain membership directory.
  • Respond to membership inquiries and send potential members chapter materials.
  • Solicit new members via annual membership drive.
  • Contact the Membership Team lead.

Newsletter Team
The Newsletter Editor works with a committee to complete the following: Solicit, edit, and/or write articles for an attractive, professional, accurate, and informative newsletter that reaches members on a timely basis.

  • Establish submission deadlines and newsletter themes.
  • Work with the chapter president to communicate chapter plans, objectives, goals, and progress.
  • Continuously collect information for articles from a variety of STC and other sources.
  • Publish newsletter in HTML and PDF format.
  • Notify members of newsletter availability.
  • Contact the Newsletter Team lead.

Employment Team
The Employment Lead works with a committee to complete the following:

  • Publicize employment opportunities for members.
  • Serve as a contact for local employers who want to publicize open technical communication positions.
  • Maintain an employer mailing list.
  • Distribute job information from Cincinnati/Dayton newspapers.
  • Contact the Employment Team lead.

Web Team
The Web Site Lead works with a committee to complete the following:

  • Maintain the chapter Web site.
  • Update site information as needed.
  • Post new/time-sensitive material to the site as needed.
  • Maintain administrative council e-mail addresses.
  • Contact the Web Team lead.
