October Meeting

The Strategy for Success for October is:

Navigating STC Resources for Career and Professional Development
on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.

Jackie Damrau
Manager, STC Leadership Community Resource
STC Fellow

Starting with Klingsmith’s “10 Tips for Finding Your Ideal Dream Job,” Jackie will then show us where we can find information, material, support, and whatever else we need (more or less) on the STC Web site so that we can prepare ourselves for whatever the next few years may bring us professionally.

A local Cincinnati PR expert once said that believing you were safe and secure in any job was “sure-i-cide,” only a prelude to the storms that come periodically into our lives. What we need to learn, what we have to learn, is how to ride out those storms and emerge on our feet, ready to move on, when they are over. STC has resources galore to help combat sure-i-cide and help us prepare. Jackie will show us how to find those resources quickly and use them most efficiently.

Joining us from Dallas, TX, Jackie Damrau is manager of the Instructional Design and Learning SIG as well as the Leadership Community Resource (LCR), plus serves as a member of the STC Nominating Committee. She also is the managing editor of the Lone Star Chapter’s newsletter, Technically Write, workshop coordinator, competitions judge and adviser, and mentor to the administrative council and the chapter’s younger members. Equally devoted to the Dallas community, Jackie has worked with the University of North Texas technical writing class to redesign the Lone Star chapter’s newsletter and continues to support the BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) middle and high school robotics program.
